Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-Factor Authentication, also known as 2-Step Authentication, is a Microsoft delivered feature which allows users to better protect their account by requiring additional steps when signing in. It is different than Password Recovery.

The College uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to improve the security of your Sandhills account. When logging into Moodle, your email (Webmail), or Self-Service, you’ll be asked to enter in your email, password, and then authenticate using the Microsoft Authenticator App.

For step-by-step instructions, click the MFA Setup link here.

Common MFA Issues:

  • Phone number has changed since originally setting up your MFA.
  • Authenticator app is not sending code.
  • Lost or stolen authenticator dongle.
  • Solution: Submit a help desk ticket with Request field set to “Non-Moodle issues” and Request Type field set to “Login (All System)”. The ITS Department will assist you. In both instances, they may have to clear out your current settings, which will force you to setup MFA again.
