Moodle Breakdown of Activities and Resources

 

Sandhills Community College uses Moodle to deliver online, hybrid, and traditional courses.

Moodle includes a host of features that tie into different activities/resources. Checkout the list below for a brief description to better familiarize yourself on some common activities or resources your instructor may require you to review or complete.

Activity/Resource Breakdown

NOTE: The list below only reflects a few of the common activities or resources.

Activity/ Resource Icon Associated Purpose
Assignment assignment icon This activity allows you to upload files – text files, PDFs, word docs, powerpoints, excels, graphics – for submission. Your instructor may specify a particular file format for that assignment, so be sure to read instructions carefully.

Please do not try to drag and drop files directly from OneDrive into the assignment submission box. Download the file locally and then upload.

Chat chat icon This activity allows text interactions with your classmates on set times in the same place.
Choice choice icon This activity mimics a poll for you to answer.
Collaborate Collaborate icon This activity allows is a real time video sessions between your instructors and/or classmates (i.e. virtual tutoring sessions, virtual instructional time, etc.)
Forums forum icon This activity allows you to create a post in response to your instructor’s prompt. Additionally, you can review your classmates’ thoughts and respond to their posts as well.
Glossary glossary icon This activity allows you to build on important vocabulary pertaining to the course.
Lesson Lesson icon This interactive activity incorporates subject matter content that may have a blend of questions throughout.
Quiz quiz icon This activity tests your skills or knowledge on a particular subject matter. Quiz questions range from multiple choice, short answer, true/false, and more.
Page Page icon This resource includes relevant information from either your instructor or the College that you should read and review.
URLs URL icon This resource allows you to review a web link provided by your instructor.
